XI: "I want everybody to reserve their power and wait for us"

Do you feel something has changed in yourself, comparing the time you made IMAGE, and yourself these days, making new work?
Well, I'm not sure. I came to do other things more easily than before, but at the same time, I have more questions because I can't see the future. That's why I came to do something harder than before. That's why, basically, I haven't changed. But looking at the detail, there's some change in myself.
For example, when you're making an album, have you come to insist on your way when you're against the music?
Well, in the time of IMAGE, when we were making music, I only said something abstract. I said something before I thought it over in my mind, and I don't have my words to express it. Before, I had an experience like that. But this time, I'm overcoming my previous attitude, so at this point, I felt I have improved.
About the title of the music you make, do you think about it by yourself?
I want to do that as much as possible.
How about in the case of "VAMPIRE~"?
In that case, RYUICHI, the big teacher, asked me something about the music, and that's why I gave him a keyword. Basically, I love RYU's sense, for example, his music also. That's why I picked up his sense. But this time, some work was made with many people. I thought it's interesting to make the balance.
You got some inspiration to make cutting?
No. I thought a lot, but I couldn't figure it out, (laughs). But one day suddenly, it came to me. This is my case.
So you're a slow starter.
Yes, I'm a slow starter, (laughs). And then, when something comes out, and I feel, "Oh, that's it!". that's my case. This is my usual style.
So you think a lot?
Yeah, I'm thinking but something comes out. When I'm thinking, but when I don't think at all about it, by chance, something comes out, (laughs). And the new album's very good. And I think (we) became better. Much better.
So twin guitar will appear?
Oh, that's a secret, (laughs). I'm not sure about that.
For the ending, could you talk about the other members in INORAN's viewpoint? How about J?
Well, he hasn't changed. But the readers don't know his former self, (laughs). I have been going around with him for a long time, so I don't know how to talk about him. Our friendship is transcendant. When I'm interviewed to talk about J, I always reply, "J is a mystery", so really, I'm not sure how I should talk about J.
These days, in your private life, you're not with J often?
No. I have not been with him for a long time, since 2nd grade of HS. In private life, we are not together. We transcended our friendship around when we were in 1st grade of HS, (laughs). But we are not gay, (laughs). If we don't talk to each other, I don't know what J is thinking, but I know how he thinks. I can understand him. I think it's very natural, his existence, as if he's air.
How about SUGIZO?
SUGI-chan is very energetic, (laughs). He's very energetic, and also coherent. And I admire his fighting spirit. On the guitar, J is my birth parent, and SUGI-chan is my nourishing parent. I grew up looking up to him. I admire his guitar. And he has what I don't have. But when he's depressed, he's really depressed. So he's a very moody type.
How about SHINYA?
Shinya-kun is my father, (laughs). When I talked with him for the first time, I thought, "How mature his idea is." That's my first impression of him. He's really my father. And during the tour, I'm with Shin-chan and RYU rather than J and SUGIZO. At the post-party, we three are always together, and Shin-chan's the most cheerful among the others.
How about RYUICHI?
Well, my first impression of RYU is that he's a good singer. He is my favorite vocalist. As well as SUGI-chan, RYU is devoted to something, and he has a broad hobby. And his concentration on something is very strong. And he can have a concentration of something and he'll do everything, for example, something which he was doing before he found something to concentrate on. He never skips work (never leaves out anything). And in that point, I respect him. Among the members, he has changed the most in the last 2 years. I think his facial features has changed.
How about yourself?
Me? I am how you see me, (laughs). Or I don't know about myself, (laughs). Please write down that he is like he is in this interview.
INORAN, do you have any specific ideal vision of LUNA SEA on your music or your style?
No, I don't have any. I'm just doing my best each month. I'm not sure. That part is what our 5 members do together, and I'm not sure of it by myself.
But you have your ideal music in your mind?
I don't have it. I don't have my own ideal image. It's very changeable.
So do you think that it's very important to make music with the other 5 members?
Yes, I think so. And if one of them moved to another direction, everything will change. When I make music, I can't visualize, for example, that RYU's singing, or SUGIZO and J are playing, or Shin-chan is drumming. I don't have such an image. I think it is strange, (laughs). That's why the final work is different from my image. But I prefer that. They can do much more than I expect. That's why I work with them, and I think that's what I'm interested in, or what I find interesting.
What's your words for your fans?
Is this okay? And if you need more words, please expand the margin of the words (in the interview). And the word for fans, well...
Oh, you have many kinds of fans. So now you can't go outside easily?
Not at all.
But how about walking in Harajyuku?
But I don't go there, (laughs). I hate the crowd.
How about your last word?
Until we meet again, it'll be a long time. But please reserve your power until we meet again. But probably, I will be more energetic. That's why, please reserve much more energy than mine.
