Kagen no tsuki ~ Last Quarter

Plot

Mizuki Mochizuki is a 17 years old student. Her mother committed suicide after discovering that her father was cheating on her. Eventually, Mizuki's father married his mistress, and Mizuki had to live with her stepmother and stepsister. Mizuki brokes up with her boyfriend Tomoki, who had cheated on her with her best friend. Lonely and depressed, she wanders along the streets of Tokyo when she notices a young musician performing by the street. Enchanted by his beautiful song, she strikes up a conversation with him and gatheres that his name is Adam, he is twenty years old and he is from England. As their friendship gradually grows, Mizuki stops going to school and to her part-time job, and when Adam invites her to live in his house, she accepts.

As the weeks passed, they develope a relationship, until one day Adam and his belongings disappeare from the house. As Mizuki consideres waiting for him in the house, her cell phone rings, and it is Adam, although she never gave him her phone number. He apologizes for leaving Mizuki and sais he has to go but he wants to take her with him. He tells her to meet him where they first met. Mizuki packs her belongings and set off to meet him. In the taxi, she hears Adam singing his song on the radio. The DJ announces that the song is Last Quarter, by the band Evil Eye. Mizuki finds Adam at a junction, across the road from her. Her ex-boyfriend Tomoki happens to be in the area, and has just noticed her. Mizuki thinks about her decision to run away with a singer, and despite thinking that it might be foolish, makes up her mind to leave with Adam. Although the light is red, she crosses the road. Tomoki shouts for her to stop, but a car speeds up and hits Mizuki.

Mizuki is now in front of an endless metal fence. As she wonders where she is, a young girl walks towards her, crying and looking for her cat. Mizuki offers to help, and soon finds the cat. The girl happily leaves with the cat and disappears, but the cat soon returnes to where Mizuki is, and walks through the fence. Mizuki is wondering if it is a dream, when she sees Adam across the fence.
In a hospital, the young girl Mizuki has met wakes up from a coma. The television has just finished playing Last Quarter on MTV. The young girl's name is Hotaru. She had been hospitalized because she met with a car accident while searching for her lost cat. After she is discharged from the hospital, she continues to look for her cat. One day, she comes across a cat which looked like hers. The cat hops through a fence surrounding an old and deserted mansion. Hotaru follows the cat and finds Mizuki. The girls are astonished but happy.

Hotaru comes to know Mizuki's situation: she does not remember her own name, who she is and why she was in the house. She only knows that she has loved Adam and wants to find him, but she is unable to leave the house: when she tries to exit the house, she ends up in the house again. Hotaru decides that she must help her. When Hotaru goes with her friend Sae to see Mizuki, she discovers that Sae can not see Mizuki, so Mizuki is a ghost. While Sae is initially frightened, she eventually agrees to help. Masaki, Hotaru's schoolmates, also becomes involved in the quest to help Mizuki leave the house. The children names her Eve, since her lover is called Adam, and none of them knows her real name. As they search for clues over the course of the story, they realize the complexity of Eve's situation. They find her real body to be that of Mizuki, who is in a coma. However, Eve is starting to recall memories which can not belong to Mizuki...
